ETV Announces Autonomous and Unmanned Systems Cluster Partnership Workshop

ALAMOGORDO, N.M. - Jan. 25, 2015 - PRLog -- The inaugural Autonomous and Unmanned Systems Cluster (AUSC) Partnership Workshop will take place on January 30^th at the Roswell campus of Eastern New Mexico University. The workshop will focus on the development of a regional strategy for the continued growth of the industry across markets including defense, homeland security, and precision agriculture in southeastern New Mexico.

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) recently announced that the AUSC would be added to its portfolio of high-performing regional innovation networks across the country. “Clusters are public-private partnerships that are driving innovation and job creation in our most promising regional hubs for innovation,” SBA Administrator Maria Contreras-Sweet said.

The AUSC is focused on supporting the growth of existing and the launch of new small businesses across the southeastern New Mexico counties of Otero, Eddy, Lea, Chaves, and Lincoln in the rapidly growing markets for autonomous and unmanned systems.

“The industry is cross-cutting across many technology and service areas. It’s not only the platforms but the enabling technologies including sensors, communications, and software along with the training and operators that will be delivering these advanced services,” said Cliff Hudson, ETV CEO.

The workshop will bring together government leaders, small businesses, and area economic development organizations to build a roadmap of the future for the AUSC to promote regional economic growth and diversity. Keynote presentations followed by working group sessions centered on Teaming & Contracting, Technology, Finance & Capital, Regional Infrastructure, and Workforce Development will form the framework for the first regional roadmap.
