AM970's HealthNavigator Features Raritan Bay Medical Center's Micki Patrick and Michelle Norek

Micki Patrick, the Senior Director of Nursing at Raritan Bay Medical Center will delve into the important process a hospital must go through in order  to achieve Magnet recognition. Ms. Patrick will also highlight the many advantages to patients who are treated at a Magnet hospital, and how Magnet nursing translates into practice for the patient and to the nurses and institutions who have earned that prestigious designation. In the show’s second segment, Michelle Norek, the Community Health Education Coordinator at Raritan Bay Medical Center, will explain what a POLST (Practitioners Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment) form is and why it is imperative that it be included for those considering or are in the process of end-of-life care planning. Norek will discuss how the POLST form works and how it helps to ensure that a patient's wishes are expressed and respected throughout the end of life process.
