UDAIPUR, India - Dec. 19, 2014 - PRLog -- I am an educated person. I am fluent in English and my living standard is also very high.’ Hearing this, Gandhiji said ‘for time being, there is work of picking wheat for Ashram people, would you like to provide your help? At this, the young man became little upset as he had expected that he would be imparted some other work to execute. He started picking the wheat, but soon became tired. Pulverized with ‘tiredness’, the young man said “Bapu, I would like to leave now as I take my evening meals somewhat early’. At this, Gandhi ji said 'No problem, this day, yopu may have your evening meals in Ashram itself.' The food was about to be cooked. The young man, somehow, managed to eat the ‘simply cooked’ food of the Ashram.  Like others, he had to wash his utensils on his own. As the young man was about to leave, Gandhiji put his hands on his shoulders and said ' Young Man! It is appreciable that you have the feeling of serving the Nation within you, which is appreciable, but it is important to note that the mind, too, must be pure and clean for the said purpose, but a person with the said feeling must not treat himself for herself superior to others. On the contrary, he or she must regard others on equal terms. A person treating others as equal can serve the Nation, beyond all boundations. The young man, then, took the apology and took the oath of serving the Nation with determination. Gandhiji embraced the young man for the same.

Brothers! ‘Service’ is not conducted, it happens on its own. ‘Service’ is vested within a person who is never in search of conditions and circumstances for his or her own joy. No other person, other than a devotee, is benefited with ‘worldly affection’. A ‘Karma’ performing person loves the entire world, but the entire work loves a devotee. A devotee need not exert any effort for attaining worldly love. It is attained on its own, as the religious observances of the devotee regularly flows towards deserving service. A ‘devotee’ is a cool person by nature. He has no selfish mottos. An ‘ascetic’ attains final beatitude through practice of abstract meditation, whereas a devotee attains the same through proper utilization of circumstances. The wealth of a businessman gets merge in his business. In the same way, the service of a devotee gets merge in deserving service. 'The Almighty', himself, is entrusted within the devotee as no service can be performed without the ‘Almighty’.

One never feels exhausted with the execution of ‘service’. The power of service is strengthened with the strengthening of service. The devotees are of two types. One, who waves as holy Ganges in the society and the other, who is engaged in service like the Himalayas, Every devotee loves truth, but deserving ‘service’ loves a devotee. ‘Service’ makes the heart & the soul, cool. Through ‘service’ one is benefited with good fortune. The ‘real affection’ toward others is disclosed through service and not from glory. If people start considering ‘service’ as a duty, the sorrow of the needy people can then be reduced to a great extent. Keeping this feeling in view, 'Narayan Sewa Sansthan' http://www.narayanseva.org is moving ahead on the path of service. I invite you, to follow the path of service and become a part of a great virtue.
