Virtuous Deed has an upper edge over Wealth

All of us take birth empty handedly and depart in the same manner. It is only our 'virtuous deeds' that accompany us. Hence, we should earn the wealth with utmost labour and integrity.

Aug. 10, 2015 - PRLog -- At the eleventh hour of his life, the justly leader (Dharmraja) arranged and sent two 'yamdoots' (yama's messengers, who brings the souls of the dead to judgment, and thence to their final destination) to carry the wealthy person to the heaven. Observing the 'virtuous deeds' of the wealthy person, 'Dharmraja' also instructed them (the messengers) to make him (wealthy person) enter the heaven with much respect. The messengers reached the residing place of the wealthy person. They knocked at his gate. At the appearance of the wealthy person at the gate, the messengers said, "Sir! We are the messengers of the heaven. The stimulated period of your life on the earth is now over. You have been successful in executing the good deeds throughout your life. You are now requested to accompany us to the heaven so as to be blessed with the benefits for your virtuous deeds". The wealthy person kept gazing at the messengers for a little while. He, then, started wandering about his wealth. The 'feeling of greediness' started developing within him. He started worrying about the wealth which he was supposed to leave behind him at the time of his departure from this world. He was aware of the fact that, even in heaven, he would be blessed with all the comforts and the luxuries, but he still had a wish to remain on the earth with a view to utilize his wealth in various welfare activities. He said to the messengers, "You are requested to allow me to stay on the earth for some more days as I have to 'clear off' all my incomplete tasks". At this, the messengers said, "Sir! If you are worried about your wealth, then you can refrain yourself by donating the same (wealth) for the education, treatment and other welfare activities of poor, helpless, 'specially abled' and the needy people. Don't get yourself deprived of the joy in the heaven. The wealthy person kept on whining as the greediness vested within was misleading him. The messengers gave a thought to it and then developed a contact with Dharmraja. He (Dharmraja) immediately perceived the feeling of greediness vested within the mind of the wealthy person, but even then, he extended the period for one year. After the departure of both the messengers, the wealthy person, instead performing good deeds.
