ATLANTA - Nov. 24, 2014 - PRLog -- Cortney Johnson, a mother, former fashion model and ex-convict releases her first book (under her pen name “Freedom”). Freedom: How I Became Her, is a personal memoir about the life she once lived that ultimately landed her a stint in a Trinidad prison for drug trafficking. Freedom is not just a pen name and book title but is also the theme behind the main message she advocates to audiences primarily made up of young women and girls heading down the same destructive path she once traveled. Freedom also represents release from the bondanges of domestic violence as the author reveals the painful details of her violent relationship with another young lady during her troubled and often tumultuous teenage years.

Officially published in September 2014, an official launch and book signings are still being finalized with dates and locations pending. Johnson will use her book as a platform to speak on topics such as self-esteem, self discovery, transition and of course, freedom. When asked why she decided to reveal such personal details of her past, the author responds, “I wrote it for healing. Not only did I need to get some things off my chest for relief and the ability to move on, but I want to be an inspiration for anyone who may be going through something and are on the verge of giving up. I want people to see that it does get better.” The author hopes that many will read her testimony and avoid some of the pitfalls and traps that could strip one of their freedom. The author is available for speaking engagements and is willing to address diverse audiences (both male and female) who may benefit from hearing her story firsthand.

Freedom: How I Became Her is available for purchase on Amazon in both print and digital formats. Visit the following URL for more book details:
