COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Nov. 23, 2014 - PRLog -- Colorado Springs, Colorado – November 23, 2014 - On Tuesday November 25th at 3pm MST, Arizona Lowe, and Mark Myhavor will discuss “The Healing Power of Art” on Talking Art, a Hangout On Air (HOA) designed to share the news and views of the Indie Artist.  Joyce Dickens, a fine art photographer who has dedicated her art career to sharing beauty and creating joy will be joining Mark and Arizona. Joyce’s motto, “If I can bring a smile to your face and joy to your heart through my images, then my day has been a success."

During the show, a study from University College London in 2011 by Tomohiro Ishizu and Semir Zeki, Toward A Brain-Based Theory of Beauty (http://www.plosone.org/article/info%3Adoi%2F10.1371%2Fjournal.pone.0021852) will be discussed.  This study, along with numerous other studies, offers scientific proof that art – and thus artists – are a valuable commodity to our society.

Ishizu and Zeki theorized that there is one specific area of the brain responsible for recognizing beauty and responds to that beauty with feelings of joy. This study was designed to trigger and identify that special area of the brain.

During the experiment they worked with both visual beauty (art) and auditory beauty (music) with twenty-one subjects.  The results demonstrated that blood flow increased 10% to that sweet part of our brains that creates joy and positive feelings.

Join Joyce, Mark and Arizona as they discuss the findings of this study plus share personal stories and thoughts about art’s ability to create a healing positive force for our society.

Mark Myhaver has had a camera in hand for over 50 years.  After experiencing the delight of portrait photography and the satisfaction of running a training seminar circuit, Mark has retired to Arizona where he now takes photos to share the beauty he finds in our world.

Arizona Lowe is the Creative Director of A & G Synergy, Inc and the site manager of Today’s Visions Indie Eco-Village.  Arizona is using her vast IT knowledge combined with her writing, art and photography experience to build a platform that simplifies the Indies ability to support each other in social media and other business arenas.  Her theory is that by itself an Indie’s voice is so quiet in the marketing world it may as well be silent; but together, Indies can unite their voices and rise above the everyday normal humdrum we call advertising and show the world the quality they offer.

She invites all independent artists, authors, bloggers and other Indie professionals to join Today’s Visions and unite their voices. The cost – as low as one tweet/post per day, (minimum of four per week) aimed at sharing the work of another Indie.  The benefits – a huge increase in exposure as the Indie Eco-Village’s  population grows and our united voice gains strength; gaining connections in many different areas of business with many different skillsets; plus the satisfaction of knowing that your voice will be joining an Indie movement whose goal is to finally be heard!
