Follow on Google News | Council on Aging Santa for Seniors Holiday Gift Drive to Assist Homebound SeniorsBy: Council on Aging Volusia Unwrapped gifts will be collected at all of the 26 Walgreens stores across Volusia County from Nov. 20 through Dec. 4 and will be distributed to COA clients just before Christmas. All gifts are tax deductible. “Throughout our years of service, we have discovered that many of our homebound clients have no local family members to celebrate the season with them,” said Richard Heald, COA’s chief operating officer. “The ‘Santa for Seniors’ gift-giving program gives the Volusia County community an opportunity to provide these seniors with a little holiday cheer.” Suggestions for gifts include gift cards, postage stamps, toiletries, sweaters or sweatshirts, socks, towels, bed linens, large print books or activity books, handkerchiefs and nutrient drinks such as Ensure. All cash donations will be matched five to one by federal grant dollars, turning a $20 gift into $100.
