TAMPA, Fla. - Oct. 31, 2014 - PRLog -- On Tuesday, November 4, 2014, Florida voters will line up at the polls to vote on Amendment 2 - the legalization of Medical Marijuana. Floridians are divided on the issue of legalizing marijuana. Some citizens are all for it while many are on a mission to fight against the amendment.

According to Senior Pastor Aubrey Shines, Medical Marijuana is a debilitating and harmful drug.

“Amendment 2 is one of the most polarizing issues we ever had to face in Florida. I say, 'no' to legalizing Medical Marijuana for any use, especially for this amendment which is full of inescapable loopholes that would expose citizens to legal and societal pitfalls in which we would never recover.”

Pastor Shines claims Amendment 2 will have a negative effect on our future generations.  Some of these negative effects had already reared its ugly head in Colorado when the state passed Amendment 64, to legalize marijuana, back in 2012.

According to a report by the Rocky Mountain High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area entitled ‘The Legalization of Marijuana in Colorado,’ it has caused many problems.

For example, in 2012, 26.81% of college students considered themselves marijuana users compared to 18.89% nationally.  These startling results ranks Colorado third in the nation and 42% above the national average.

In addition, 25-40 percent of DUI drug arrested involved marijuana use.  Plus, hospitalizations related to marijuana use has increased by 82% since 2008.

Pastor Shines and other opponents of Amendment 2 fear the same results will happen in Florida, or even worse.

"It is an agenda that is being pushed with little thought of citizens’ welfare nor substantial or quantifiable medical evidence. It's being pushed by people who care very little about your personal welfare, but their own economic and political gain.”

In a recent interview with Dr. Jessica Spencer EDD, an expert on the long-term medical and societal effects of marijuana usage, believes that legalizing this drug could be debilitating to the productivity and development of Florida and for the rest of our country.

Dr. Spencer says, “Purchasing this drug will not require a prescription, but a recommendation. This allows anyone who wants pot to get it for any reason, such as back pain, trouble sleeping, and eating disorders.

There is no age restriction; teenagers will be able to purchase marijuana without their parents’ consent. Those responsible for dispensing, selling and using pot will not be held liable for property damage injury or death even in the event of gross negligence malpractice or abuse.”

These are just a handful of societal effects of marijuana usage.  Pastor Shines urges Florida citizens to vote ‘No’ to legalizing Medical Marijuana on this upcoming election on Tuesday.
