Follow on Google News | Learning Light offers alternative generic learning contentThis move comes in the wake of the decision – announced in August - by the generic e-learning content producer, SkillSoft to acquire the learning management systems (LMS) producer SumTotal Systems. Learning Light Director, David Patterson, explained: “There’s some evidence – especially from organisations in the USA – that e-learning content buyers are becoming sceptical of SkillSoft courses. This is not just because they fear that SkillSoft’s tie-up with SumTotal Systems will adversely affect them in some way if they’re not using the SumTotal LMS but also because SkillSoft’s content tends not to be video-based and, so, can now appear ‘dated’. “Learning Light manages a large range of contemporary e-learning materials for its own activities and to distribute to other training providers,” David continued. “We have e-learning courses – from a number of content suppliers - on a wide range of topics including business improvement, business skills, selling skills, office skills finance, engineering and manufacturing, health and social care.” Learning Light distributes e-learning courses from, among others, eJ4, Virtual College, eltalking, Vado, Learning Light and the language specialists, Altissia. “In particular, the ‘ej4 performance enhancement solution’ is designed to increase the intellectual value of human capital by instructing repeatable skills and knowledge that increase ‘close ratios’ for sales people, improve performance and modify behaviours,” The ej4 videos focus on performance improvement techniques and skills. In particular, they deal with improving sales and customer service skills but there are also videos covering leadership and management activities. The video content is cloud-based so it’s accessible anywhere via a range of devices. Course administrators will find that the content can be managed via ej4’s online campus or on an existing LMS. “The idea behind these content-rich, high quality videos is that you can train your team in record time at an affordable cost, using an approach that is proven to work and maximise success - ultimately adding value to your company's bottom line,” said David. “Each ej4 video uses green screen technology to let the presenters interact with their content – a technique used by TV weather forecasters. This increases the impact of that content on the learners and it’s been shown to maximise its learning effectiveness.” End About Learning Light Ltd Sheffield-based Learning Light, founded, in 2005, provides advice and help to organisations using e-learning and learning technologies to improve their business performance.
