Never one to dip his toe in the waters of an unfamiliar business sector, O’Reilly shows up at the first meeting wearing his bathing suit, ready to dive in. When he had the urge to release an eBook for kids, he didn’t just write one, he wrote two, having each professionally illustrated. Then he had both titles translated into the six languages spoken in the countries where the most eBooks are sold. He also kept creating original eBook aimed at other demographics, and he hasn’t let up, since. O’Reilly is what techies call an “early-adopter,” “I worked as hard as I could for about six months, building every kind of interactive eBook I could think of, just to demonstrate the power of iBooks Author,” O’Reilly said. “And I assumed a lot of other people were doing the same thing. But when I came up for air and looked around, it seemed like I was the only one who got the memo.” That was when O’Reilly realized he had an entirely different job ahead of him.
