By: Santa to the Sea “It’s sad, but everyone knows someone who has been affected by this illness,” said Mike Barber, founder of Santa to the Sea and race organizer. “This year, we’ve decided we can help. So we’ll donate $5 for every runner who registers during October. We’d like to help those we can and get as many people involved as possible to show our support.” Depending on the number of registrations there are, Santa to the Sea hopes to make a big impact. For example, if 1,000 register in October, they will donate $5,000.00, or if there are 2,000 registrations, $10,000 will be donated. The 7th Annual Santa to the Sea half marathon, 2-person relay, 5K and 1K kids fun runs will be held Dec. 14. All races start at 8 a.m. The half marathon begins at the giant Santa located at 2801 Ventura Blvd., Oxnard, and ends at the Marine Emporium Landing in Channel Islands Harbor.
