ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Oct. 12, 2014 - PRLog -- The historic De Anza Motor Lodge located in Albuquerque New Mexico along the famed Route 66 is located in Albuquerque’s Nob Hill neighborhood.  The De Anza was originally built as a Best Western Hotel in 1939 by Charles Garrett Wallace.  The De Anza Motor Lodge is just one of many historic motels that are being brought back to life along this historic roadway, reports Adam Smith, Managing Director of HotelProjectLeads.com a company that tracks hotel construction, renovation and development projects.  Route 66 took motorists from Chicago to the west coast and was lined with motels, says Adam.  With the creation of the interstate system in the 1950’s the area began a gradual decline with many motels being forced to close.  Now fueled by Albuquerque’s emerging tourism industry and arts scene the area is experiencing a rebirth as developers are realizing the area’s historical significance.  The developer behind the project plans to restore the De Anza to its former glory when the motel was branded as a Best Western Hotel in the 1950’s.  The $5 million renovation will include: 39 cabanas, a clubhouse, swimming pool, café, a Route 66 museum and an art gallery.
