ORB Telemedia Ltd, gains operator status in the UK and announces new premium number ranges

OFCOM registered PECN operator ORB Telemedia announces new premium rate ranges

Sept. 30, 2014 - PRLog -- ORB Telemedia Ltd, provider of premium rate numbers and VoIP wholesale services is pleased to announce it is now a registered operator within the United Kingdom. With this new status, ORB Telemedia is now staged to compete fully within the UK Premium Rate market place.

This means we can offer exceptional conditions on UK numbers to our global customers, this means better payouts, direct billing, full forwarding control, and no costly setup fees.

We see this as an important step in our evolution towards becoming a full service telecom company, we have a full carrier price list, CPL, with reseller rebate structure, and our international VoIP service is available for domestic clients.

ORB Telemedia has been directly assigned new premium rate number ranges from OFCOM; the communications regulator within the UK, it lays out strict rules and conditions which safeguard the consumer and industry alike, it regulates the assignment and issuing of numbers, whilst another agency phonepayplus regulates the services which utilise the numbers, these are known as the codes of practice. ORB Telemedia is registered with both phonepayplus and Ofcom, our website contains full information about all aspects of setting up and providing services using our numbering.

ORB Telemedia's new premium rate number ranges in the UK cover services from 26p (pence per minute)  up to £1.53 a minute, ORB Telemedia also offers premium numbers from Eire, France and many other countries.

We also announce our new UK Wide Business numbers 033x ranges charged at the same rates as UK 01 and 02 landlines, these non-geographic numbers are intended for corporate business.

The main incentive to choose an 03xx number for business is that in December 2013, the enactment of the Consumer Rights Directive in the UK began to force companies currently using 084 and 087 numbers for customer service, complaints, renewals and support to change their number.

The end users of 084 and 087 numbers can now move to the equivalent 034 or 037 number or to a new 01, 02, 030, 033 or 080 number.

The deadline for compliance was June 2014 but many businesses and organisations have yet to switch. The Directive states that "callers must not pay more than the basic rate". This will restore one of the original rationales for NTS/NGNs - callers not being financially disadvantaged by calling NGNs compared to the cost of calling geographic numbers.

This effectively means that the call cost for many users is encompassed within their talk plans. more information can be found on ORB Telemedia's website,
