ARB Midstream, LLC to Build Crude Oil Trans-Loading Terminal in DJ Basin

DENVER - Sept. 24, 2014 - PRLog -- Denver, CO - ARB Midstream, LLC announced today that it will build and operate a crude oil trans-loading terminal, the Niobrara Connector (“NiCon”), to serve producers and market participants in the greater DJ Basin – Niobrara shale play located in northeastern Colorado and southeastern Wyoming. The NiCon terminal will be located in Weld County near Evans, CO and will be a purpose built crude oil unit train facility with service provided by the Union Pacific Railroad.   The facility will be designed to accommodate multiple grades of crude oil typical of the DJ Basin production with initial storage capacity of 200,000 barrels, expandable to over 400,000 barrels.

The NiCon facility will have three rail loops with capacity to handle full 120 tank-car unit trains. Initially the site will be capable of receiving crude oil from trucks, with pipe connections to be completed in the future. Rail-loading capacity will be approximately 79,000 barrels per day of crude oil, with initial truck unload capacity of 35,000 barrels per day.  Manifest operations are expected to begin in Q1 of 2015 with full unit train operations available in late Q3 of 2015.

He went on to say, “the NiCon facility sits in the heart of the DJ Basin, with over eighty percent of drilling and permitting activity within 30 miles of the terminal.  The central location of NiCon will help minimize truck haul distances and allow for future pipeline connections into the terminal.    NiCon will provide DJ-Niobrara producers and other market participants with the flexibility and optionality to transport crude oil from the DJ Basin to price-advantaged refining markets across the United States not currently accessible by pipe.”
