College Launches “Talk Like A Pirate” Starter Kit To Help Language Learning Go FArrrgh!

Community Business College is offering the pirate starter kit to help people learn to talk like a pirate through a distance learning class and help people prepare for Talk Like A Pirate Day and Halloween.

MODESTO, Calif. - Sept. 17, 2014 - PRLog -- Community Business College (http://www.communitybusinesscollege.edu/) in Modesto, California has launched a “Talk Like A Pirate” starter kit in recognition of national “Talk Like a Pirate Day 2014” on September 19, 2014. The pirate starter kit includes the five things every pirate needs: 1) a pirate crew; 2) a first mate buddy teddy bear; 3) an online language “Pirate Talk” class (http://www.cbcwebcollege.com/shopcart/index.php?p=product&id=109&parent=0); 4) a wallet-sized pirate treasure map with common pirate slang and, of course, a swag bag of pirate booty.

The pirate starter kit online language class consists of five full modules of basic pirate vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation. The class also provides historical insight into everyday pirate life and culture.

The program is aimed at both adults and children: Adults who want to practice lifelong learning and be ready for the next “National Talk Like A Pirate Day” and children who want to boost their imaginations. The online learning class is also helpful to those who have nautical plans for their Halloween costumes and want to add an authentic vocal touch.

The Crew

The “crew” consists of four rubber ducks in full pirate dress. The crew is what makes a pirate ship work and these duckies look like they are ready to sail. Not forgetting that they’re pirates, these ducks do not float upright when put in water. It’s just part of their pirating ways.

The First Mate

The first mate can be a bear of a rule enforcer – the teddy bear is decked out in full pirate regalia. This little bear sitting atop a desk serves as a good reminder that to master any new language, constant practice is the bear minimum.

The Map

Every pirate needs a treasure map. The map in this starter kit is wallet-sized and laminated. On the reverse side of the map is a list of common pirate phrases that come in handy when encountering other pirates on the high seas or showing off a little pirate lingo in the office.

The Treasure

Real pirates are only as good as the treasure they keep. This starter kit includes a durable pouch with pirate coins.

Talking The Talk

Learning a new language, even “talking like a pirate” is a fun way to keep the love of learning alive. It’s been shown that people learn best what they like most. Fun activities like talking like a pirate are ways to keep brains active and agile.

The key to learning any new language is to make it engaging and to encourage practice. The sections in the pirate language course include bits of interesting trivia interspersed with each lesson.  With lesson goals like: “Express Surprise; Give Sailing Commands; Call Someone Names; Greet Friend; and Pay a Compliment,”

The course emphasizes the structure of language, any language, and how to learn it.

The language program (http://www.cbcwebcollege.com/LearnALanguage.htm) can even be downloaded through a smartphone app to practice any time any where.

Prepare To Be Boarded – But Never Bored

Kits can be ordered through the college’s lifelong learning program website (http://www.cbcwebcollege.com/) - http://www.cbcwebcollege.com/shopcart/index.php?p=product&id=109&parent=0

Once the Talk Like A Pirate starter kit (http://www.cbcwebcollege.com/shopcart/index.php?p=product...) is purchased, login information for the language program instructions are sent via e-mail for immediate access. The crew, teddy bear, map and gold coins are delivered by priority mail.
