Local Indianapolis Theater Company to open “The Color Purple” at Strand Theatre

SHELBYVILLE, Ind. - Sept. 8, 2014 - PRLog -- With a ten city tour under their belt, local Indianapolis Theater Company, The Cupboard Inc. is proud to announce the opening of their rendition of Oprah Winfrey’s “The Color Purple,” September 20^th at the Strand Theatre, 215 S. Harrison St. at 7 p.m.

The Cupboard Inc., a non-profit organization based in Indianapolis recently ended their run in Atlanta, GA is excited to bring the show back to Indiana close to home.

“This is a great cast!  Anytime they have the opportunity to perform close to home they always get excited and embrace it quite well. Everyone in Indiana should come out support these locals who are phenomenal.” said Tanya Pugh, the organization’s videographer.

In addition, the organization intends to launch a mobile food pantry later this fall to help with its mission of giving back to the communities they perform in.

“Our organization uses the arts as a way to push our message through.” said Joyce Licorish, president of The Cupboard Inc., and also stars in the show as Sophia.
