Parent University a Big Hit at EPIC!

CHICAGO - Sept. 5, 2014 - PRLog -- EPIC seniors and their parents attended workshops held at EPIC all last week. Designed and ran by EPIC's College Support Counselor (CSC) and 12th grade College & Career Skills Teacher (CCS), the first class of Parent University provided parents information about the college and financial aid application processes. Equipped with a timeline of important deadlines and a packet of useful resources, parents came away from the meeting feeling relieved and excited for this monumental time in their children's lives. Ms. Lang, an enthusiastic senior parent, says that she wasn't always this way. "I was skeptical of EPIC at first when my son was a freshman. He is living proof that this school works. We love Ms. Allen [the CSC] and Ms. Williams [the 12th grade CCS teacher]--I left this session informed and at ease! I know that EPIC will work with us to solve any issues that come up and help us stay on track for my son to graduate and go to college." Throughout the year, EPIC will continue to host Parent University workshops to help parents navigate the complex college admissions and aid systems. From FAFSA night to College Signing day and Summer Sendoff, EPIC supports and celebrates seniors on their way to college and career success.
