HeartSine Technologies Awarded Novation Contract for AED Products

NEWTOWN, Pa. - Sept. 3, 2014 - PRLog -- HeartSine® Technologies, Inc. announced today that it has been awarded a multi-year contract with Novation to supply the HeartSine samaritan® PAD 350P automated external defibrillator (AED), accessories and value added services.

As a supplier of AEDs through Novation (www.novationco.com), a leading healthcare services company, HeartSine will offer its AEDs to more than 100,000 members and affiliates of VHA Inc., UHC, Children’s Hospital Association and Provista.

“HeartSine offers the members we serve with technologically advanced and easy to use products at a great value, which is especially beneficial to providers in emerging non-acute care markets,” says David L. Richman, Vice President, Sourcing Operations, Physician Preference, Novation.

”The risk of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is high in any healthcare facility, whether it be a private practice, a nursing home or in the common areas of a medical center,” says Stephen Garrett, HeartSine Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the Americas.  “Without immediate access to an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) these businesses risk the safety of patients, visitors and staff.”

“With a long history of innovation in public access defibrillators, HeartSine has successfully combined its clinically superior technology with an innovative design that provides the smallest, lightest and most rugged AED in the industry — all in an affordable package that offers the lowest cost of ownership of any AED.”

HeartSine’s flagship samaritan PAD utilizes proprietary electrode technology, advanced and stable firmware, and proprietary SCOPE™ (Self-Compensating Output Pulse Envelope ) biphasic technology (an escalating and low-energy waveform that automatically adjusts for patient impedance differences) to assess rhythm and maximize effective shock delivery if necessary.

About SCA

Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is a condition in which the heart suddenly and unexpectedly stops beating, causing blood to stop flowing to the brain and other vital organs.  SCA usually causes death if it’s not treated within minutes. CPR alone will not restart the heart, so the American Heart Association recommends CPR combined with early defibrillation (within three to five minutes) for the best outcome.

SCA claims more than seven million lives annually.  It occurs abruptly and without warning, with 84 percent of SCA events occurring outside of the healthcare setting.
