Do-it-yourself Pest Control Company Celebrates 35th Anniversary

PHOENIX - Sept. 2, 2014 - PRLog -- Bug & Weed Mart, a locally-owned and family-run retailer specializing in do-it-yourself pest and weed control celebrates 35 years in business this September. Since opening its doors in 1979 the company has proven itself recession-proof, achieving sales growth in virtually every year.

“Fortunately for us, bugs and weeds are two things people always want to get rid of, which certainly helps to keep us in business,” says owner, Jim LaBrie. “I attribute our success to our personal service and the education we provide our customers, delivering affordable DIY solutions.”

To mark the anniversary and thank the public, Bug & Weed Mart will be hosting a 35^th Anniversary event across all five store locations. The celebration will be held Friday, Sept. 26 and Saturday, Sept 27 during regular store hours. The two-day celebration will include $35 specials on select items, giveaways, complimentary refreshments and a raffle drawing to thank customers for their support.

Bug & Weed Mart will be giving out raffle tickets during the week of Sept. 22 to customer spending $35 or more. In addition to the drawing and festivities, Bug & Weed Mart will donate a percentage of the stores sales from the anniversary event to Catholic Charities Community Services, which provides services and programs to help those in need. In 1979, LaBrie discovered a do-it-yourself retail store in Mesa specializing in bug and weed control. After some negotiation he purchased the store, and later left behind his corporate career to dedicate his full attention to serving customers and growing the business. In 1982, he expanded his operation to three stores in the East Valley and sales steadily grew each year. In 2008 he opened his Gilbert store, the largest location to-date. In July 2014, the company moved its Scottsdale store to a larger space with a more visible location on Scottsdale Road.
