Porky served a mighty left hook which brought the previously unbeaten, world-ranked J’Leon Love to the mat. Love had been the number one contender for the Super Middleweight, but Porky showed him that hard work, conditioning and preparation can change your destiny. This was a stunning victory for Porky, and a devastating defeat for Love. Few expected Porky to win fighting a world class contender, and in fact, the odds were 16:1 against Porky even walking out of the ring. The odds-makers were shocked when Porky defeated Love who many predicted would become the next Super Middleweight Boxing Champion!
In this huge upset, super middleweight Rogelio “Porky” Medina (33-6, 27 KOs) scored a spectacular third round KO over previously undefeated WBA #8, WBO #10, WBC #11 rated contender J’Leon Love (18-1, 10 KOs) when Porky’s left hook dropped Love on his face. It was one of the most spectacular upsets of the year and a well-deserved victory for Porky.
After the match, Love was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for observation. He left on his own recognizance.
Porky Medina was elated as he exclaimed, “I knew in the beginning that he was going to box so I was focused on cutting off the ring and applying pressure at all time. I was very surprised the fight ended like it did when it did, and I expected to win but not in this kind of explosive fashion this early in the fight. I would love to fight next for the WBC title against champion Anthony Dirrell!”
Carlos Moncada of Latin Sports commented, “Rogelio Porky Medina is a world class boxer and we are extremely proud to have him in our stable. This win shows that our faith in him has been well-founded, and we feel this that victory will spark his chances at the world championship. Porky has what it takes to be the champion, and we wish him the heartiest Congratulations on this resounding victory! Latin Sports looks forward to a bright and shining future with this fine young man.”
