PRLog - Aug. 20, 2014 - BASKING RIDGE, N.J. -- Kevin Moulton, of Basking Ridge, NJ, rose above more than 4,000 local participants to win the district-level competition of the Toastmasters International Speech Contest. He will represent District 83, whose clubs encompass Northern New Jersey, Staten Island, NY, and Rockland County, NY. Moulton has qualified to advance to the semifinal rounds of Toastmasters International World Championship of Public Speaking, which will be held on Thursday, August 21st, at 7:30 am (Eastern Standard Time), at the Toastmasters International Convention in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Should Moulton win the semifinal round, he will compete against 8 of the best speakers in the world on Saturday, August 23, for the title of 2014 World Champion of Public Speaking.
Moulton,a member of Summit Toastmasters, Summit, New Jersey, surpassed fierce competition to win the hearts of the audience and judges alike with his speech, Dog Training 101, where he shared what we can learn from dogs to help us be better communicators.
Ninety one winners from districts around the world advanced to the semifinal round after a six-month process of elimination through club, area and district speech competitions. Their five- to seven-minute speeches were judged on content, organization, gestures and style.
“Toastmasters speech contests are another way to build your confidence, because you sharpen your skills and speak to many different audiences,” said Moulton. “I am excited and honored to represent District 83 on the world stage in Kuala Lumpur. It’s an opportunity of a lifetime.”
Moulton is a Sales Consulting Director for Oracle, based in Redwood, CA, and works out of the firm’s Park Avenue office in New York City. He joined Toastmasters to become a better speaker and leader at work and in the community.
