- Jul. 22, 2014 - SAN FRANCISCO -- San Francisco, Calif.
– The World Affairs Council presents remarks by Andrej Kiska, President of Slovakia, on September 30 at 12:00 PM at the Commonwealth Club of California in San Francisco. President Kiska will address both the challenges and opportunities that arise from Eastern enlargement of the European Union in his talk "Slovakia at the Core of European Integration."
Slovakia joined the European Union 10 years ago in what was dubbed as a "big bang enlargement“
of Central and Eastern European countries. In view of recent events in Ukraine, the power of European integration and Eastern enlargement of the EU is seen as critical in fulfilling the concept of Europe as "whole and free." Slovakia’s 2016 EU Presidency will focus on Eastern enlargement, innovation, and trade, which are key for the future prosperity of the EU.
Tickets are free for members and are priced at $15 for non-members and $5 for students. Tickets may be purchased online at http://www.worldaffairs.org/events/event/1332
