“Many people think that June would be one of the most popular months for people who are looking for engagement rings, weddings bands, etc.” said John Donson, director of nationwide sales for The Diamond Supplier. “What we’ve noticed it that is has typically been a slower month than the rest of the year, especially over the last several years, so our sales people and diamond buyers were just as caught off guard as everyone else.”
The traditional view has always been that June was too associated with weddings themselves, and it was a time when men would start to think that maybe it’s time for them to propose. In more modern times, when proposals were less of a surprise and more of a decision reached between the couple, that trend continued. These days, young couples are also faced with the added expense that goes into attending weddings, even if they aren’t part of the wedding party. With more and more couples choosing destination weddings and registering at expensive boutiques, a couple simply doesn’t have the cash flow in June, typically, to buy diamond engagement rings.
Even though A. Jaffe engagement rings posted record numbers for last month, Mr. Donson was quick to point out that they weren’t the only designer with an increase in sales. That being said, he isn’t surprised that they continue to be the industry leader. “Naturally, we are proud of all the rings and designers that we feature, but there has always been a special something about the rings that we get from A. Jaffe that speak to people in a way that is unlike any other designer.”
