ANCHORAGE, Alaska - July 4, 2014 - PRLog -- The historical roots of the BBNC or the Bristol Bay Native Corporation are all thanks to 3 distinct Native cultures of the Bristol Bay region - Aleut, Dena'ina Athabascan Indian and Eskimo cultures. Their tradition of exploration and cooperation are still continued up to this day.

As of this day, the BBNC has a total of 9,600 shareholders living everywhere from Bristol Bay, Seattle, Puerto Rico, Anchorage, New Zealand and all other places in between. As a bonafide Alaska corporation, they continue to search for profitable engagements and sustainable projects to give shareholders and their respective families with opportunities for livelihood and economic advancement.

The sole purpose of the enactment of the ANCSA or the Alaska Native Corporation Settlement Act in 1971 is not centered solely on the legal ownership of land among Native Alaskan settlers. More than the rightful ownership, the commitment of the act and also of the BBNC is to enrich the lives of its people through sustainable projects in the economy, through employment opportunities and through education.

The foundation of the BBNC is based on their land and their shareholders, and it is in the cumulative knowledge about their land and culture that paves the diversification of their corporation with nearly $2 billion in annual revenue so far. More than $120 million in dividends have been received by the shareholders and their families since its inception in 1971. It is also for this reason why to become a stakeholder of the BBNC has been closed on the same year the corporation was born. It is to delimit beneficiaries only among those who deserve it.

The region of Bristol Bay spans a total of 40 million acres of land. It is larger than the state of Ohio and it is also a region that offers spectacle landscapes and unspoiled bodies of water aside from a rich and fascinating history.

The region houses a total of 8,000 residents. It is also home to an abundant wildlife of approximately 10,000 brown bears. More importantly, its freshwater streams house the world's largest sockeye salmon fishery that also includes fresh water seals.
