Follow on Google News | Palm Harbor Academy Releases FCAT Reading ResultsBy: Palm Harbor Academy 386-447-9692 Palm Coast, FL – Palm Harbor Academy is pleased to announce their FCAT reading results for the 2013-2014 school year. Eighty (80%) percent of the students in Palm Harbor third grade class scored proficient or better. All of Palm Harbor's third graders were promoted to the 4th grade. The eighty (80%) percent proficiency score is the highest proficiency rating among all of Flagler County Schools, which averaged sixty -five(65%) percent and even exceeds the 76% third grade proficiency score of St Johns county. The third graders scored 60 percent higher than their scores last year. “We are so proud of the grade improvements that our students have shown this year,” said Principal Esther Hamilton. “Their hard work has paid off and it shows in their marked improvements,” The school is currently seeking k-6 applicants; and is especially interested in assisting 4year olds prepare for kindergarten through the Voluntary Pre - Kindergarten program. All Florida residents who have a child that turns four years of age by September 1, are eligible to participate in Florida's FREE Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) education program. Pre-K prepares children to be ready for school and children who participate in high-quality early childhood education programs develop better language skills, score higher in school-readiness tests and have better social skills and fewer behavioral problems once they enter school. They are also better prepared for Kindergarten, especially in the areas of pre-reading, pre-math and social skills. The Palm Harbor Academy is a charter school that provides a unique form of education that allows instructors to work individually with each child, and provide a rich educational experience. They are funded by the State of Florida and authorized to meet specific educational needs in the Flagler County community.
