June 5, 2014 - PRLog -- In spite of the many changes that are occurring in the world of traditional media, radio is still a great way to market your dental practice, provided you know some simple yet very powerful things about the radio broadcast medium.

The first question that dentists ask me is whether or not radio is even a viable outlet to advertise their practice on. They mention things like satellite radio and  music streaming services such as Pandora, and presume that traditional radio is over. Not by a long shot, at least not at this particular time.

You see, radio still reaches over 90-percent of the US population each and every week. That's some reach! So, yes, radio still presents a powerful marketing platform for dental practices.

However, many dentists make the mistake of advertising on the radio station that they personally like.

Or, the dentist asks the two or three people who work in their office what they listen to, and advertise on that station.

Or, the dentist will ask a couple of their patients what stations they like, and believe that's a "good sample" which represents an objective, unemotional, "scientific study" of the media marketplace.

All of these are huge mistakes which lead to poor marketing decisions, and a waste of thousands upon thousands of dollars.
