The Show: The struggles of co-existing are wrought in each hilarious detail on stage for all of us to share. Enjoy a stand-up & situational comedy experience with two of the funniest comedians married today: The newly married comedy duo of Doug Wyckoff and Teresa Wyckoff. Their show an interactive show using marriage advice drawn from the audience while weaving in each of comic's own stories, jokes and experiences together seamlessly with audience suggestions. This format ensures that no two shows are ever the same.
The Tour: As newlyweds, married less than a year, Doug & Teresa Wyckoff feel they have a lot to share about marriage, and a lot to learn. So they are going on a 3½-month tour – 101 days – from Portland (Oregon) to Portland (Maine) doing over 70 shows in all the lower 48 states. They will be performing at comedy clubs, casinos, restaurants, bars, theatres and even some Elks Lodges. They are selling all of their belongs, sending their 18 year old to Australia for a year and seeing the country in their 2003 Ford Focus, that has over 200,000 miles on it already. What could go wrong?
They’re booking 70+ shows, over 3 1/2 months in the lower 48 states, from Portland, Oregon to Portland, Maine. Then flying to Alaska and to Hawaii (where it all started) to round out our tour. A large goal of the trip is growing as comedians, and developing their comedy craft. Therefore, they will also going to be recording every show - to track their progress as comedian and will be producing a DVD/short documentary at the end of the tour that has highlights from the shows, specifically the first and final show, to show the evolution of their material, the interactive show and the growth of their talents. They will also be recording weekly video blogs to show where they’ve been, share funny stories from the road, highlights from shows and their search for the most romantic spot in America. As they have been booking their shows, they’ve also been looking for towns and areas that are renowned for their beauty or romance. They’ll be spending their off time shooting video and pictures of these spots and showcasing their favorites on their video blogs, blogs Instagram feeds and Facebook updates - which can all be accessed through their website.
Our Story, from Teresa’s side: It all started in Hawaii. My fellow comedian husband and I met at a comedy show on Maui and performed together with a group of other stellar comedians on the island of Maui. We dated, at first secretly, not wanting to upset our comedian friends and later publicly as we performed together for the next couple of years. He often told me, so romantically, that he would never marry me. So it was a surprise, when he got down on one knee, on stage one night, and proposed. His son convinced us to move to Oregon (my home state) and since that time we planned a wedding, went to parent teacher conferences, and watched a lot of high school sports. Now, as the child graduates high school and ships of to Australia we are planning on planned on leaving ourselves, to follow our dreams. We are getting rid of almost everything we own, and putting the remainder in our Ford Focus where we will live out of for the next 3 1/2 months. We leave on June 26th on this dream tour of performing in every state in the US, shortly before our 1-year wedding anniversary. After the tour, we plan on moving to NYC for improv comedy training.
Giving Along the Way: We will also be donating at least 10% of the profits from each show, to a local charity in the town we are performing. We are also going to be donating tickets, to as many shows as we are able, to vettix.org. Vettix gives active military, veterans and their families free tickets to events.
Funding the tour: One way they are funding the tour is through crowdsourcing at indiegogo, you can read more about their tour and the perks they have available here: https://www.indiegogo.com/
Doug Wyckoff is a seasoned and established comedian in his own right. He is also a founding member of the famed Hawaii comedy group and production company: Power Up Comedy. He can be seen on Grey's Anatomy, CSI New York and if you look closely you can see him in the box office hit Bridesmaids. Doug is an irreverent stand up comedian whose obstinate humor is universally offensive to all creeds, races, and cultures. He is non sequitur in his comedic performances, a lone wolf howling at the moon yet a leader of his pack, at least in age, and in his own mind. He brings laughter wherever he performs: from the world famous Comedy Store to the monthly shows on Maui and clubs across the mainland. He has shared the stage with all-star comedians such as Tom Arnold, Whitney Cummings, Chris D'elia, The Greg Wilson, Don Barnhart, Ron Morey, and Curtis "Chino" La Forge. He headlined around the country from Casinos to comedy clubs and even a kids show.
Teresa Wyckoff, the aforementioned new wife of Doug Wyckoff, is a sarcastic, dry and witty comedian with embarrassing and usually awkward moments that have become comedy jewels for all of us to share in. Originally from the Portland Metro area, she didn't start performing stand up comedy until she moved to North Carolina and later New York City. Wanting to live somewhere just as expensive as New York but warmer she moved to Maui where she met Doug and became one of the founding members of Power Up Comedy. Earlier this year her and her now husband Doug moved back to the lovely state of Oregon along the freezing cold Oregon Coast, which inspires her to question her decision-making skills. Her unique brand of comedy is subtly a bit naughty but wrapped in an innocent and sarcastic package. Teresa has headlined for the Female Comics of Hawaii show in Honolulu as well as co-headlined with The He & She Show on assorted Hawaiian Islands and the mainland.
