Soccer World Cup :Group A Battles of Legends

Tough battle of Group A in upcoming FIFA world cup begins soon in next month. All eyes are on the Group A, because some legendary players are representing their respective country.

KOLKATA, India - May 27, 2014 - PRLog -- The 2014 World Cup Football Tournament kicks off on June in Sao Paulo, Fortaleza and Brasilia, and now all eyes are fully focused on the tournament.  This will be the second time that Brazil is going to host the competition. This season, the Opening Match against Croatia is a repeat of Brazil’s first game in 2006, in Germany. Total 32 teams in 8 groups will fight for the fame in 12 different venues.  On 1st week of March 2003, FIFA announced the dates and Venues for the upcoming tournament. A total of 64 matches are to be played in twelve cities across Brazil in either new or redeveloped stadiums and this is the first time, the Goal-line Technology will be used at a World Cup Finals. The allocation of places for the final tournament was decided on 1st week of March 2011, The 32 participating teams were drawn into the 8 groups “A” to “H” consisting of 4 teams each.

Let us first see who is in which team. In Group-A, the participating teams are Croatia, Brazil,  Cameroon and Mexico. Chile, Spain, Netherlands and Australia are in the Group – B, Colombia, Greece, Cote D’Lvoire and Japan in Group – C, Uruguay, Costa Rica, England and Italy are in Group – D, In Group – E, the participating teams are Switzerland, Equador, France and honduras. Argentina, Bosnia, Iran and Nigeria are in Group – F, In Group – G, the participating teams are Portugal, Germany, Ghana, United States and in Group H- Algeria, Belgium,  Russia, South Korea. If we talk about the past, we all know that Brazil is the most prosperous national football team in the history of the FIFA World Cup with five tournaments in 1958, 1962, 1970, 1994 and 2004.

Let us now find out the teams going to participate in Group – D. The participating teams are Costa Rica, Uruguay, England and Italy.

The schedule for the Group D is as follows -

Costa Rica vs Uruguay          1st Match          Fortaleza

Italy vs England          2nd Match         Manaus

Uruguay vs England          3rd Match         Sao Paulo

Italy vs Costa Rica          4th Match          Recife

Italy vs Uruguay          5th Match          Natal

England vs Costa Rica         6th Match          Belo Horizonte

It will be a real tough job to analyse and predict anything regarding the upcoming performance of the teams in Group D. For Italy it can be presumed that Prandelli’s team performed well in achieving the Euro 2012 final and would love to see the equal Brazil’s record of five World Cup successes on Brazilian soil. England is looking for the magic formula which will bring them past the quarter-final impediment for the second time since they won the trophy on home soil. Even with concerns ribbed about the quality of the current group, they peaked their group without losing a game and were among the top four highest scorers in the European qualifying zone. Costa Rica snatched upon Mexico’s struggles to follow the United States as the Leader in the CONCACAF, but going any further than the group stage will be big question. Uruguay struggled a lot to qualify, needing a play-off against Jordan to book their place after scarcely missing out on the top four of the South American qualifying section. The players like Cavani and Luis Suarez have more than enough ability to cause problems. They won the World Cup the last time it was held in Brazil in 1950.
