Evan Guthrie Law Firm Judges Trial Advocacy Competition For Legal Students In Charleston, SC

CHARLESTON, S.C. - May 11, 2014 - PRLog -- Attorney Evan Guthrie of the Evan Guthrie Law Firm in Charleston, South Carolina helped to judge the Charleston School Of Law Trial Advocacy Board Internal Competition held on location at the Charleston School Of Law campus in Charleston, SC on the afternoon of Friday November 8th 2013. Mr. Guthrie was joined by other practicing attorneys in Charleston, SC as judges for the contest. Students from the Charleston School of Law competed against each other to help determine their future participation in travel mock trial competitions against other law schools. Attorney Guthrie helped to judge a full trial containing opening statements, witnesses being directed and crossed by both sides, and closing statements. Mr. Guthrie was one of three scoring judges that were seated in a jury box type seat that the student attorneys argued towards. Attorney Guthrie scored the performances on a variety of factors including persuasiveness, courtroom demeanor, and body language. The trial took about an hour to perform.

Mr. Guthrie enjoyed being able to judge the internal Trial Advocacy contest with law school students and being able to give constructive criticism to the participants at the conclusion of the proceedings. Attorney Guthrie has judged many law students competitions at the Charleston School of Law and has helped the local Charleston, SC legal community in fostering a sense of mentorship between the practicing lawyers and the law school students. Mr. Guthrie looks forward to being to return to the school in the future and help out with events and competitions.
