The side from Nacogdoches provide the TPSL with an excellent addition to the current lineup and will receive their first test of the playing level when they play a friendly match against Conroe based side Houston Dutch Lions on May 3rd.
"We are very glad to join a growing organisation and help set standards for the future of both the TPSL and our own Texas Timberz." said President/Owner Marco Antonio Morales.
The Timberz will play out of Nacogdoches which has a huge soccer program and is home to USMNT star Clint Dempsey who grew up playing ball in the local leagues.
"It's great to finally get into the TPSL," continued Morales, "I have been talking with Brendan for over a year and the only thing that was holding us back was a quality field. I am very excited to play against such quality teams and in-fact we play the current Texas Cup champs, Houston Dutch Lions, next weekend at the Lions soccer Complex, so we will get a handle of how high a calibre the play required to compete will be from that."
TPSL President Brendan Keyes went on to say, "The Timberz will get a good idea of the level of play next weekend against one of the top teams in the league who had a terrific season last year and made both finals, winning the Texas Cup. We welcome the Texas Timberz to the TPSL and believe they will be an excellent addition to the current group of teams we have."
Texas Timberz were born in 2013 with their first ever match being played against none other than Mexican giants Chivas Guadalajara. This cross border partnership continues as they will once again face the soccer giants in June.
