By: Poricy Park Conservancy Sunday, June 8th, 1pm-4:30pm Highlight your calendar for this very special event. There will be tours, demos and fun. Join in this opportunity that culminates with a reenactment at 4pm. Appropriate for adults and children age 7 and up. (Children must be accompanied & supervised by an adult). Please note: There will be a black powder demo which is loud. Event activities will take place at the Murray Farmstead in Poricy Park. Advanced registration fees: $6 for members and $8 for non-members; Community Fossil Hunt Sunday, May 18th and June 29th Two session choices each day, 3:00pm-4:30pm OR 5:00pm-6:30pm Celebrate warm sunny days with this exciting activity. Beginning at the Nature Center, an experienced guide will prepare you for your journey back in time 65 million years ago. Trowels and sifters will be provided and the guide will help you identify your treasures. Please dress for the weather and wear rubber boots or old sneakers. You feet WILL get wet. Note: Sandals and slip-on footwear prohibited. Remember to bring a small bag to hold your five best finds. Registration is needed in order to have enough supplies!! Appropriate for adults and children of all ages (children must be supervised by an adult). Meet at the Nature Center. Advanced Registration (includes equipment rental): $8 per participant; Community Pond Netting Saturday, June 22nd; two session choices 1:30pm-3:00pm OR 3:30pm-5:00pm What lurks in the water of Murray Pond? A park naturalist will guide you through the wonders of pond life. Appropriate for ages 7 to 107. Children under 7 require parental assistance with netting; (children must be supervised and assisted by an adult). Advanced registration encouraged. Meet at the NatureCenter. Advanced registration fees: $6 for members and $8 for non-members; Murray Farmhouse Open House - A Middletown 350 Passport Community Event Sunday, July 27th, 1:00pm-4:00pm Enjoy a personal tour at the annual open house of this unique New Jersey State Historic site with its amazing construction dating back to Colonial times – 1770. Discover the unique replica artifacts that have been replaced by today’s modern conveniences. Appropriate for all ages (children must be supervised by their adult). Meet at the Murray Farmhouse. Fee: Donations welcomed and appreciated. These support ongoing programs at Poricy Park Conservancy. Thursday Explorations: Thursdays: Mornings 9:30am-11:30am OR Afternoons 12 pm-2pm For children aged 3 ½ to 6 years old Spring is in the air! You can feel it on the breeze!! A park nurturing naturalist will lead children on hikes, captivate them with nature stories, and engage them in fun crafts and activities. This is an ongoing weekly session; you may sign up for multiple weeks or individual weeks that meet your schedule. Class size is limited and program payment is required with signed registration form. Registration required one week in advance. Fee: members $18 per session; non-members-$ Traditional Yoga, Atha Yoga Anushasanam - “Now, the teachings of yoga” – Yoga sutra 1.1 Saturdays, 10:00am-11:00am for Teens and Adults Now is your time to register for traditional yoga at Poricy Park. Certified instructor, Julee Csuri, will lead gently and tailor exercises to suit the specific needs of each participant. Perfect opportunity to start a healthier you. Wear comfortable clothing, bring a mat if you have one. Advance paid registration required. Meet at the Nature Center. Fee: $12 members; $15 non-members PROGRAMS ARE HELD RAIN OR SHINE SO PLEASE DRESS ACCORDINGLY. Poricy Park Conservancy is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization located at 345 Oak Hill Road, Middletown Township, NJ. All community and summer camp programs are run by Poricy Park Conservancy. With exceptional ecological resources, the 250 acre historical and nature site makes it one of the largest parks in Monmouth County. The Park offers recreational activities such as magnificent wooded hiking trails, bird watching, pristine pond settings, fishing, and a one-of-a-kind 70 million year-old Cretaceous fossil bed. Poricy Park is home to the 1770 NJ Historic Murray Farmhouse and Barn. The Nature Center is open Monday-Friday, 9:00am-4:00pm.
