She’s been compared to Dinah Washington with vocals described as soulfully seductive and sumptuous. Classically trained, Tammy McCann is a superlative Chicago-based jazz vocalist who performed with Ray Charles for several years. This show is the first live New York performance featuring her new partnership with Grammy winning composer, arranger and pianist Laurence Hobgood and Steve Williams, drums.
Chicago Tribune jazz writer Howard Reich says "The very thought of a singer of McCann's vocal prowess sharing a stage with a pianist as sensitive and technically accomplished as Hobgood is enough to quicken the pulse of just about any jazz listener.... The McCann-Hobgood collaboration represents an important development for both artists, and for anyone who values jazz musicianship of the highest level."
