The lovestruck funk and electro-soul/indie-dance of Gossip Culture, aka multi-instrumentalist/producer Ryan Sheridan, found a new home in Los Angeles last year. While recording the Strictly Speaking EP with producers Alex Elena (Lily Allen) and Topher Mohr, Sheridan expanded upon influences like Nile Rodgers’ Chic and his sophisticated production style, the classic Motown of Marvin Gaye and Rick James to Burt Bacharach, ‘80s Synthpop like Prefab Sprout and modern beat-centric electronic music like Toro Y Moi.

Early reviews have compared Strictly Speaking to Daft Punk’s recent collaboration with Pharrell.

Here, on Gossip Culture’s 2nd EP self-released on own label, Disco Killers (disco killers.com), Sheridan enlisted the soulful vocals of guest Quincy McCrary, keyboardist from Mayer Hawthorne & The County, to help deliver matured themes and lyrics of lost love (“Waiting”), Hollywood (“The Actress”), a hip-hop collaboration with Esquire Mackentyre (“Never Said”) and losing oneself in the desert (“Deserts That Snow”). TILT Magazine calls Gossip Culture “"A guaranteed hit ... an indie pop flow with hints of upbeat disco." Sheridan will be DJ’ing throughout L.A. and California through 2015.
