Follow on Google News | Local PTA Helps International NonprofitLocal PTA helps International Nonprofit by donating school supplies to improve their education
By: Consortium Media Certain school essentials in Nicaragua are hard to come by, so West Creek Academy tries to help with donations whenever possible. The school’s PTA hosts an event every year called, “Matters of the Heart” where the school holds an evening function to support a charity. Aware of Lindsay’s affiliation to GOCARE, the school facilitated the transport of any school supply donations, and letters the West Creek students wrote to the kids in Pantanal. “We hope to broaden the student’s learning paths. I know that our educational programs will benefit directly from the school supplies and books that were donated. Additionally, the shoes will also make a positive impact on attendance in public school, since the children need to have them to attend,” Lindsay said. “Other supplies such as clothing will not necessarily have a direct impact on education, but they might help alleviate some financial strain and foster a positive bond between GOCARE and the community. It reminds the children of Pantanal that the students of West Creek are thinking of them and are behind them in their struggles to improve their lives.” ### ABOUT GOCARE: GOCARE Inc. is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charity headquartered in Ventura, Calif.
