Bono and his thoughts on Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen

Bono declared Jesus as either the son of God, or just plain nuts.

SOUTHEND, U.K. - April 13, 2014 - PRLog -- Well done Bono for standing up for your true and loving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. It seemed like a revelation in itself to hear a superstar, such as Bono, discuss anything other than his own spiritual exploits that previously, before his admission to the Christian faith, appeared to be set on an intellectual foundation with a populist agenda.

Often when I hear rock, film and TV stars so elegantly explain how their humanist self-righteous ideals are enough to set a foundation for our charitable needs, I want to scream out "your limited fame mixed with intellectual humanisms are insufficient". Action, love and faith in Jesus are the three must have ingredients that any group of people or person needs to change another person’s life, in totality that is. When I think of Band Aid for example, I know that its financial and spiritual foundation would not survive outside a Christian country, like the UK and America. Having the "Big Society" audience already set up by Jesus all we need do is find varying characters that will take on the role as the necessary self-less person to head the procession, and Bob Geldof seemed to do fine God Bless him. Adding to this, it seems that Christianity is the only narrative that can build such foundations, where one group can help a less well off group without the search for financial gain or any other selfish reason. Some may argue that Bono and the like should stick to writing songs and driving cars into swimming pools, when it seems that while on his travels Bono is tirelessly related to some kind of charity or other, and not in a flippant way either.

Sometimes I feel like inventing a new word and leave the term charity behind with those who hide in the shadows of royalty. It seems that the word charity has overstayed its welcome, like it’s been diluted.

Anyway, for years we have listened to many-a-rock, film, royal and TV star bang on about the plight of the poor and starving and how we should all overcome the guilt trip by digging deep into our pride busting pockets. We can sling a fiver in the charity box just as long as we have enough money left over for a few more beers and a Big Mac and Chips (go large) on the way home, or a curry maybe for the heavier drinkers. When participating in these charitable events there always seemed to be an atheist vibe that screamed we don’t need God when giving to those less well off. Listening to Rowan Atkinson for example, if I have spelt his name correctly, bang on about the uselessness of the church and yet he fronts an audience that he truly believes stems from the essence of Englishness alone, which is so far removed from the truth I still feel embarrassed for him. The essence of what the western world has, even as individual countries, is the New Testament delivered to us directly from those who knew Christ and from those who came along soon after the crucifixion, which was the bit when they nailed Jesus to the cross.

Saint Paul wrote a great deal of the New Testament and he was born within perhaps five years of Jesus, although he never knew Jesus he soon realized what was on offer and therefore set on a course of action and furthered the spiritual legacy of Jesus by writing various letters to the churches that he helped set up. These letters are a large chunk of the New Testament. For his trouble, Saint Paul was martyred along with 11 of the twelve disciples, and that's how it continued for 350 years where at least one million Christian’s were killed simply because they wanted to pass on the renewing of God's message through Jesus. Listening to Bono makes me think how far society has come when we can be quite sure that the feel safe factor probably hasn't changed much in Bono's life after he gave such a great interview.

Once again well done Bono, I will send you a copy of my book, "The God Idea by the Rambling Bricklayer". Graham T Harvey
