There are 14 regional competitions across the country. Sixteen teams are assigned to each of fourteen regions. Only the top team from each region will advance to the National Finals in Santa Monica, California on April 10-13, 2014. This year’s regional competition took place on March 20-23, 2014. Participating Judges included current members of the judiciary, prominent Mediators, as well as lawyers from all surrounding counties. Several law schools from Florida participated in the competition at the Broward County Courthouse in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The winning team was Stetson University College of Law. Farmer Jaffe Weissing attorneys Gary Farmer, Sr., Brad Edwards and Seth Lehrman also "sat" as presiding "Judges" to help advance the mission of the AAJ competition and support Farmer Jaffe Weissing efforts as Co-Chair and Host of related events. American Association for Justice seeks to inspire excellence in trial advocacy through training and education for both law students and practicing attorneys. The association accomplishes this goal in part by sponsoring the National Student Trial Advocacy Competition, an annual nationwide mock trial competition. The competition is an exceptional opportunity for law students to develop and practice their trial advocacy skills before distinguished members of the bar and bench.
