8th Annual Phoenix Canstruction Design/Build Competition Underway

PHOENIX - April 2, 2014 - PRLog -- 8th ANNUAL PHOENIX “CANSTRUCTION®” DESIGN/BUILD COMPETITION UNDERWAY

PHOENIX, AZ – March 5, 2014 – The Arizona chapter of the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS)is hosting the 8th Annual CANSTRUCTION® Design Build Competition, July 19, 2014, through Aug. 1, 2014, at the West Building of the Phoenix Convention Center. All proceeds benefit St.Mary’s Food Bank Alliance.

CANSTRUCTION® is a charity competition to design and build structures made entirely from canned foods. Five person teams comprised of architects, engineers, and contractors come together to design and build a 10 x 10 x 10 structure. In 2013, the event donated 45,341 cans, weighing 42,595 lbs. to St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance. This donation came from 11 teams of 29 local architecture, engineering and construction firms from the greater Phoenix area.

“Each year the event gets better and better. Just when I think I have seen the best of the Phoenix A/E/C community, the creativity of the firms exceeds my expectations,” said, Jennifer Schaefer, Co-Chair, Henderson Engineers, Inc., Phoenix.

Beginning July 21, the public is encouraged to visit the Convention Center to view these marvelous structures. Ballots will be available to cast your vote for the People’s Choice Award. The structures can be viewed during normal operating hours.

“This is not just an industry event, we encourage the community to participate by coming to the Convention Center to see the displays, vote for their favorite CANSTRUCTION® and bring a canned food donation for St. Mary’s Food Bank,” said, Dawn White, Co-Chair, It’s All About the Marketing, Phoenix.

CANSTRUCTION® is a unique charity which hosts competitions and exhibits showcasing structures made entirely from canned food. Since 1992, CANSTRUCTION® has helped raise over 21 million pounds of food for local hunger relief.
