However many writers still wrongly believe that an in-depth, technical mastery of computing is required to publish e-books for Kindle. These people are missing out on a wonderful opportunity. Anyone who can use Microsoft Word can format an e-book, e-book covers can be bought cheaply via the internet and the process of uploading both the manuscript and the book cover to Amazon is straightforward.
I started publishing for Kindle in January 2013 and now have several e-books available. With each title I’ve learned something new about e-publishing or tried to do something in a different way. I’ve shared many of my experiences on my blog http://www.sallyjenkins.wordpress.com.
In early 2014 I gave a talk to a creative writing class about Kindle Direct Publishing. Whilst preparing the talk I realised that I had enough material to write a short e-book on the subject - Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing for Absolute Beginners is the result.
It covers topics such as obtaining a book cover, generating reviews and running a free or discounted promotion. The aim of the book is to demystify the Kindle publishing process and help other writers to take their first steps in e-publishing.
None of us expect to become overnight millionaires through writing but it’s very satisfying to take an idea, work on it and then see the finished e-book for sale on Amazon. It’s the icing on the cake when someone leaves a four or five star review!
Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing for Absolute Beginners will help others experience this warm glow.
