Baker indicated that while she believes the decision was a good choice, she was originally hesitant to hand the sci-fi novel over to the Kindle Select program, exclusively for marketing. Baker has since reported that she plans to embrace the program whole-heartedly and give it a chance to help propel book sales. In an effort to take a proactive part in promoting and marketing “Experimenting With Murder", Baker announced plans to offer the book for Free this weekend, March 15th , and 16th, 2014. On these two days, readers can take advantage of the free promotion and download the Kindle version of the book at no cost.
According to Baker, it is not an easy decision for an author to make, after having worked for so hard and so long to complete a manuscript and get it published. But while the free downloads may seem like a loss of revenue, she acknowledges that the instant exposure and potential reviews are well worth any perceived losses. Baker hopes that the program will result in not only a boost in sales to the Kindle Edition of “Experimenting With Murder”, but she states: “With any luck, the free book promotion over the next two days may actually help to drive sales to the print version of my book.” The Amazon partnership with CreateSpace made it easy to link both the Kindle and the Print book, and offer them together in another promotional program of Amazon’s called Book Match.
