"Last year, the race was a huge hit with the crowd," says Chris dePalma, outhouse race chairperson. "Entrants were very creative with their outhouse designs. The winner was a tribute to Elvis. Outhouse names included ‘Gotta Go,’ ‘Ye Olde John’ and ‘Poop Coupe.’”
The deadline to enter is April 30. Entering outhouses must be delivered to the CVD site by Tuesday, May 6between 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. The racecourse distance is about 200 feet on grass. Specific rules for building and racing the outhouses are found on the CVD website along with an entry form. The entry fee is $50.
"Each outhouse entry must have its name displayed on the exterior of the outhouse," says dePalma. "Recruit their family, friends or co-workers to form teams."
Trophies will be awarded to first, second and third place winners. In addition, there will be a "People’s Choice Award." For information and entry forms, go to www.conejovalleydays.us or contact dePalma, cvdouthouserace@
