Blanchard Machinery Selects Bobbitt to Expand Facility

WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. - March 4, 2014 - PRLog -- Bobbitt Design Build recently began construction on an addition to Blanchard Machinery Track Press and Under Carriage Shop located at 3151 Charleston Highway in West Columbia. The 4,363-square-foot expansion will serve as base of operations and house the new track press and undercarriage shop.

The existing building and addition combined will accommodate a new crane, welding shop and all necessary equipment for their operations. The existing slab slopes front to back, which required careful planning for the new structure to allow for height, a level crane platform and equipment placement.

During the design process, the Bobbitt team worked closely with Blanchard Machinery’s Richard Trotter and their electrical engineer to determine how to best bring new electrical service to the facility and accommodate the increased demand. The team completed an in-depth analysis of surrounding facilities and made the necessary accommodations to provide the required new service to the track press and undercarriage structure.

Bobbitt was selected after submitting a competitive proposal for the project and because of its proven credentials. The project is slated for April 2014 completion.
