PRLog (Press Release) - Feb. 11, 2014 - ATLANTA -- Great Fortune Films and Great Picture Show Productions announced the release of the short film, THE END AGAIN, an emphatic reflective portrait of a couple’s joys and falls at the close of their six-year relationship, starring Columbus Short, (Scandal) opposite his real-life wife, Tanee McCall-Short (The Losers). An exclusive February 22nd screening at Coze in Atlanta, GA is set to kick off the multi-city screening tour followed by stops in Washington, D.C. (3/27), Pittsburgh, PA (4/11) and additional dates in New York City and Los Angeles, CA and the film festival circuit.

The contemporary romantic drama illustrates the sometimes complex yet nuanced struggles that often accompany breakups as Jane Salmon (McCall-Short) and Joe Maxwell (Short) attempt to reconcile their personal battles of conscience against a love that still remains.

“Working with my wife, Tanee, was great,” Short recounts. “We have natural chemistry. When in a relationship, you have lots of things to draw on to make it feel more real.” THE END AGAIN offers an honest illustration of the dimensions of love at the point of standoff. The dynamic explores how missed communication, pride and heart-guarding manifestations in relationships can lead to unresolved feelings that question whether it’s worth staying or calling it quits. “In relationships, women don’t always see raw emotion from men. It happens in different places; when your back is turned, when you’re not there, when you’re not paying attention,” Short reflects. “That’s what’s great about filmmaking, and in this film, you see all the sides and perspectives.”

“Jane knows what she wants to do, but it’s hard because she’s so fiercely loyal,” says McCall-Short. “Her mind and heart don’t always link up; it’s like a constant battle. It can feel like a fresh hurt – Jane is in this phase right now.”

Director Crystle C. Roberson (Echo at 11 Oak Dr.) and producers Latisha Fortune (Before I Wake) and Columbus Short (Stomp the Yard 2: Homecoming) took a liberal approach to bringing the story to life. As an actor, McCall-Short appreciated Roberson’s clear directing style.  . As an actor, McCall-Short appreciated Roberson’s clear directing style. “She was really good about being specific about what she wanted,” says McCall-Short. “Yet she was really open to the concepts Columbus and I wanted to bring to the story. As an actor, it’s great to have someone who’s really direct but also open-minded.”

Written by Felicia Pride and set to a soundtrack from R&B group The Foreign Exchange,THE END AGAIN is a prequel to the forthcoming feature length project entitled OPENENDED,which reunites Joe and Jane for a single day to mourn the loss of a mutual friend and to confront unresolved feelings. THE END AGAIN was shot over a two-day period in the historic Edgewood neighborhood of Atlanta, GA.

About OPENENDED
OPENENDED is a feature-length romantic dramedy that’s currently in development through Great Fortune Films. The synopsis:Joe and Jane are no longer together. But the love that they once shared rears its complicated head after the death of a mutual acquaintance.  It’s been four years since Jane left Joe for a new city miles away, but the funeral brings them back together again for the day. There’s a lot to say, but so little time before they go back to their real worlds. They laugh. They argue. They reminisce down the streets of DC. They fall back into one another.

They reflect on life, love, and their own mortality. The nostalgia and their undeniable chemistry bring up a myriad of emotions and force them to re-examine their failed relationship. At the end of the day, they have to make the ultimate decision: go back or move on. Will they leave things open-ended or will they finally achieve closure?
