Park Lawn Awarded $2,500 from the Community Giving Fund

Now in its Second Year, the Community Giving Fund Expands Nationwide Awarding 97 Grants, Nearly Quadrupling the Number of Non-profit Organizations Receiving Support

OAK LAWN, Ill. - Feb. 5, 2014 - PRLog -- Park Lawn has been awarded a $2,500 grant from the Community Giving Fund, as it celebrates its second year of community giving by awarding 97 grants to non-profit organizations across the country. In 2012, ProSight Specialty Insurance (http://www.prosightspecialty.com/) and Tangram Insurance Services (http://www.tangramins.com/) established the Community Giving Fund to enable both insurance companies, in partnership with its agents, to provide additional support to non-profit organizations in an effort to further their mission.

The Community Giving Fund was designed to allow charitable organizations to apply for grants, while creating the opportunity for brokers to develop even deeper relationships with the non-profit community. Insurance brokers serving the grantees played a critical role in the process by nominating organizations for financial support from the fund. Park Lawn was one of 97 organizations selected from charities requesting funding from across the country.

“Park Lawn truly appreciates the generous support of the Community Giving Fund and the community minded initiative of ProSight Specialty Insurance and Tangram Insurance Services. These funds will support Park Lawn’s Building Bridges to the Future Program to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families transition from special education to a full range of individualized adult living services that will continue to benefit them throughout their lives,” said Park Lawn Executive Director Jim Weise.

Park Lawn’s mission is to provide services that promote independence, choice and access to community living for people with developmental disabilities. Founded in 1955, by a small group of parents who recognized the untapped potential in their children, these parents were determined to provide opportunities to help their children lead active and productive lives. Today, Park Lawn provides adult developmental training, vocational services, supported employment, residential opportunities and recreational activities.

Community Giving Fund grants will support a wide array of unique programs and services directly impacting their communities with funding awarded to non-profit organizations that demonstrated an immediate and specific need. The $2,500 grant for Park Lawn was earmarked to support the Building Bridges to the Future Program. The funding will be used to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families move from special education into adult services in the Chicagoland area. “We are thrilled to be offering exponentially more grants in 2013, giving our Fund the opportunity to support the very organizations that sustain our communities,” said Rekha Skantharaja, President, Tangram Insurance Services. “We know the last few years have been especially challenging for the social services sector, and we hope that this additional support from the Community Giving Fund will help further Park Lawn’s meaningful work,” said Sue Miller, Community First Program Executive, ProSight Specialty Insurance.

ProSight and Tangram understand that non-profits provide vital services to society – everything from childcare and family services, to education and aid for seniors. In 2011, ProSight has partnered with Tangram Insurance Services and Socius Insurance Services to develop the Community First program - a comprehensive program designed specifically for Non-profit and Social Services organizations. As specialists in the non-profit and social services space for over 10 years, the companies understand the unique needs of non-profit organizations and strive to deliver the best protection and customer service available.
