NEW YORK - Jan. 29, 2014 - PRLog -- Legendary songwriter, producer, keyboardist and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee CHRIS JASPER, an integral member of the chart-toppping "3+3 era" ISLEY BROTHERS  was awarded a GRAMMY LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD along with ERNIE & RONALD ISLEY on January 25th, 2014. The rest of the Isley Brothers, Marvin Isley (posthumously), O'Kelly Isley (posthumously) and Chris's brother-in-law Rudolph Isley were also honored as members of the group.

CHRIS JASPER was an integral member of THE ISLEY BROTHERS during the 1970s and 1980s—their gold and platinum years—from the "3 + 3" to "Between the Sheets" albums.  It was during this time that CHRIS JASPER, along with younger Isley Brothers, ERNIE & MARVIN ISLEY,  added the composition and musical component to the older Isley Brothers' vocal trio (Rudolph, O'Kelly & Ronald Isley), transitioning the soul-singing trio into the "3+3 era" ISLEY BROTHERS, and making the group a self-produced, self-contained R&B/funk band. The 6-member lineup successfully endured through the 1970s and early 1980s until the release of their final album as a 6-member self-contained band, "Between The Sheets" (1983). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1GOr8l4pRBs&feature=youtu.be

CHRIS JASPER, a classically-trained composer and musician, was primarily responsible for writing, recording and arranging the majority of the Isley Brothers' music during this time including such beautiful love songs as “For The Love of You”, "Don't Say Goodnight" and “Between the Sheets” and uptempo funk such as “Fight the Power”, "Live It Up", "The Pride", and "Showdown" and the list goes on and on. A multi-instrumentalist, Chris Jasper's arrangements and instrumentation and his expertise on the keyboards and synthesizers, have been called the foundation of the unique and legendary “Isley Brothers Sound” of the "3 + 3 era"

In 1984, CHRIS JASPER, MARVIN ISLEY and ERNIE ISLEY subsequently formed the spin-off group ISLEY-JASPER-ISLEY (IJI) and CHRIS penned and sang lead vocals on the #1 R&B hit "Caravan of Love", a song that was covered by English recording group, the Housemartins, making it an international #1 pop hit.

Since the breakup of Isley-Jasper-Isley in 1987, CHRIS JASPER has continued to write and record, bringing his "unique sound" of funk, soulful love songs, and spirit-filled anthems to his own solo projects, releasing 10 solo albums for his independent record label GOLD CITY RECORDS, beginning with the 1988 release of the chart-topping "Superbad" album, which was just re-released, to his 2013 release of his latest CD, "Inspired...By Love, By Life, By the Spirit".

"Inspired",
with 10 classic R&B, Soul & Funk tracks, has received critical acclaim as a resurrection of the legendary "Isley Brothers" sound. The latest single "Any Day" was nominated for "Song of the Year" by Soultracks.com, having been one of the most "liked" songs in Soultracks "first listen" feature. http://youtu.be/_Imx6V04ESc

CHRIS JASPER has also produced a number of artists for his Gold City label, and has worked with such notable artists as Chaka Khan, writing and producing a song for her CK album (“Make It Last”). Chris’s music has been covered and sampled by numerous new and established recording artists, including Whitney Houston, Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, Gwen Stefani, Fantasia, Will Smith, Alliyah, Queen Latifah, Notorious B.I.G., Tupac, Natalie Cole, and the list goes on and on.

In addition to his recent Grammy  honor, CHRIS JASPER has received numerous gold and platinum albums and music industry awards, including the BET lifetime achievement award. In 1992, Chris, along with the other members of The Isley Brothers, was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

CHRIS JASPER lives in New York with his wife of 30 years, Margie, and their three sons, Christopher, Nicholas, and 20-year old recording artist Michael Jasper, the latest addition to the Gold City roster. http://www.MetronomicMikeJasper.com
