By: Rubric

Jan. 21, 2014 - PRLog -- WALTHAM, Massachusetts and LOS ALTOS, California—Global language services provider Rubric has been named the recipient of The Donor Award in Translators without Borders (http://translatorswithoutborders.org/)’ second annual Access to Knowledge Awards. As a Gold sponsor of Translators without Borders over the past three years, the company has helped the non-profit organization significantly increase its humanitarian work around the world—more than 14 million words have been translated pro bono for 250+ non-governmental organizations (NGOs) including Fair Start Europe and Enda Europe.

Translators without Borders’ awards program is designed to celebrate volunteers, donors and other partners that equip people across the globe with a better understanding of vital information. Chosen by the non-profit’s boards of directors and advisors, Rubric and its fellow award recipients have enabled Translators without Borders to grow its training and translation center in Nairobi, Kenya, pilot its Words of Relief crisis network and realize many other achievements.

For instance, Rubric has played a key role in working with Translators without Borders to improve Wikipedia’s fundamental healthcare pages. The project, initiated by Wiki Project Med Foundation and Translators without Borders and connected through Healthcare Information For All by 2015, entails translating the 100 medical and health articles most viewed in English into simple English and then onto 100 languages. To date, nearly three million words have been delivered.
