Follow on Google News | Cancer Support Community of MA South Shore Announces Continuation of Healthy-Steps ProgramBy: Cancer Support Community MA South Shore Debbie Lyn Toomey RN, of Ultimate Healing Journey, a certified Healthy Steps facilitator, will again lead the program which the CSC-MSS began offering to people in 2013. Healthy Steps, also known as the Lebed Method, is a medically proven movement and exercise program that focuses on stimulating the lymphatic system. It combines slow, smooth and resistive movements to wonderful music to help participants feel better physically and emotionally. The program can be done sitting or standing and experts believe it improves balance and gait. This is free for people diagnosed with cancer. “The Healthy Steps Program is a medically proven exercise program that makes a great difference in how people feel both physically and mentally,” said Megan Bettencourt, Executive Director of The Cancer Support Community of MA South Shore. “We are lucky to have Debbie who comes to us with such impressive experience and is a wonderfully engaging instructor. We are pleased to be able to continue to offer the Healthy-Steps ™ program again in 2014. Not only is it unique in that people at every level of fitness can participate and benefit, but, it reflects one important component of our mission which is to respond to the needs of those people in our community who have been impacted by cancer.” About Cancer Support Community of MA South Shore The Cancer Support Community-Mass South Shore is one of the 50 affiliates, and the only one in New England, of the National Cancer Support Community, headquartered in Washington, DC.
