Evelyn Suarez, Vice president OWIT Chapter Development, said “OWIT’s strength is its global network of members who have a strong focus on and expertise in international trade including global supply chains, foreign direct investment trade policy and entrepreneurship.” OWIT is a worldwide non-profit organization that focuses on helping women develop and execute global trade opportunities. Its membership comprises women and men sharing knowledge, mentoring peers and youth, connecting with counterparts in other countries and exchanging business contacts and referrals. OWIT currently has 27 chapters that are located across the United States and Canada, as well as in Mexico, Peru, Switzerland, Denmark, Kenya and Vietnam. “Joining the OWIT family is exciting for our area that is comprised of leading universities, entrepreneurs, global business leaders and trade policy experts,” said Carol Stymiest, President of Northern Triangle. “We believe that the OWIT will become a great resource for people interested in International Trade.” The Greater Triangle area includes Research Triangle Park, which is home to more than 170 global companies. The Region is also home to three major universities, Duke, North Carolina State University, and the University of North Carolina. The goal of this chapter, as it is with other OWIT Chapters, is to provide substantial networking opportunities and facilitate educational opportunities among women and men in International Trade.
