“Mind-control is no longer something out of science fiction,” says Levine. “There are viable, safe ways of using this technology to control external programs and to improve performance.”
So far, it appears developers are using this technology in two ways: as a measurement device and as a controller. Thus far, Levine has spotted a wearable device that measures brain fitness and moods and another device that measures and improves brain focus. As a controller, there are video games that are starting to emerge that use brain waves instead of joysticks. There is also a brain-powered exoskeleton being developed that allows paralyzed individuals to walk.
“Advances in technology are creating a variety of incredible opportunities,”
