PRLog - Jan. 7, 2014 - The fire in Yarnell Hill, Arizona, started from a strike of lightning and ended with the loss of 19 firefighter. America Burning: The Yarnell Hill Fire Tragedy is a short documentary about the this heart-breaking accident and the impact these fires are having on this town and the nation at large.
This wildfire proved to be the worst firefighter disaster in Arizona, and the sixth deadliest in the nation overall. This documentary was presented by The Weather Channel to highlight the danger of wildfires and underestimating their true power. The hotshot crew, a type of specialized firefighters trained to specifically treat wildfires, were unprepared for the strength of the blaze and the unpredictably high winds that morning. The purpose of this very moving film is to better understand the firefighters that died this day and better preparing for future wildfires of this nature.
