Dec. 23, 2013 - PRLog -- For many of us, the holiday experience is about giving joy to others. The East County community celebrated the season of giving during the 3rd Annual East County Christmas for Kids. Founding member and imortgage loan consultant Jim Cate banded volunteers from all over the community to provide families and children in need with presents, food, books and much more.

Last Saturday, December 15, 624 families and 1,812 kids received a gift at Cajon Valley Middle school.  Volunteers at the event included Kiwanis Club of Alpine, Parishioners from St. Luke, The Ladies of Hope and teachers from the Cajon Valley Union School District.

“Jim Cate has been involved in countless community projects, we’re proud to have him as a positive role model in East County,” said Michael Stowers, branch manager of imortgage-San Diego.

East County Christmas for Kids received an overwhelming response with more than 6,000 books and over 2,500 toys donated to the charity. Gifts were generously contributed by various organizations including Imortgage, Kiwanis Club of Alpine, Ralphs, Sprouts, Foodland, Sempra Energy, A-1 Storage and Tipton Honda. Excess food items and toys from the event went to Santa Sofia’s Food Bank and the San Diego Police Dept. to be distributed on their patrol routes.
